Gloucestershire Schools County Championships,
POWS, CHELTENHAM, SAT 10 JUNE 2006

We have had so many entries we have extended the Programme Timetable for the Gloucestershire County Schools Championships.

We do not expect you to turn up at the beginning of the day but must report to your team manager at LEAST AN HOUR before your first event, to collect your number. You should wear your school vest, shorts and 6mm spikes are allowed. Please bring eight pins.

There will be refreshments for sale.

Please check when your event(s) are since some of the timings have been changed from last year.

Competitors are asked to report to the Official at their event at least five minutes before it is scheduled to start.

The Programme will run as close to stated times as possible, unless there are unforeseen delays.

You must have two numbers, one front, one back, with four pins to each number, for all track events. For High Jump and Pole Vault, only, have only one number, on the front.

Heats will be drawn at trackside. If insufficient athletes turn up to warrant a heat, then the race will be run as a final at the scheduled heat time.

First two from each Heat will qualify for the Finals of their events.

The four fastest losers in the 100m and two fastest losers in the 200, 300 and 400m heats will go also go through. If you are not going to compete in the Final you must let your Team Manager and someone in the Office know.

Athletes wishing to go forward to the South West Schools on Saturday, 17th June, at Exeter, need to compete at the Gloucestershire County Schools on 10th June, 2006. If you are unable to compete, for a very good reason, please let Andy Beadle or Joyce Barrus, (Team Managers) know.

The winning athletes from each event will be selected and receive letters with slips which must be returned as soon as possible.

The full team will be decided on Sunday, 11th June. We hope to take as many athletes as possible and there will be a coach.

School, District, County and National Standards are on the Website, www.glosschoolsaa.org.uk . Also the qualifying standards for English Schools.

Athletes wishing to be considered for English Schools need to compete and offer qualifying performance results with full details of age, dob, age group, boy/girl, address and phone number, school, date and venue of performance to Andy Beadle or Joyce Barrus. You cannot automatically assume you have been selected since Gloucestershire is a small, "C" County and can only take 25 athletes to English Schools on 7/8th July at Gateshead. Those who have done relatively better will be selected first, so, even if you have got the qualifying standard, aim to better it for selection!
